What began as a series of temporary works in Sculpture III, has culminated into my independent study sculptural experience titled: Undertones.

Initial exploration focused on light reflection and controlled visual stimulation along with research on liquid, frequency and vibration. This approach led me to the discovery of something called cymatics. Cymatics is a vibrational phenomena where by sound becomes visible in fluid mediums. Really cool stuff. By combining different material elements and low bass sound generated by subwoofers, the goal was to create an environment that is mesmerizing and meditative yet slightly ominous for a dynamic sculptural experience. Subdued lighting and a neutral palette were purposeful decisions along with material selections to simulate machinery at work. Overall a really fun and exciting project allowing me to explore new avenues and refine my fabricating skills.
